I can’t say school has ever been one of my favorite places. The dusty brick buildings have stood solid on their foundations for nearly as long as the country has been established while the halls reek of the money parents throw at the faculty to ensure their child a place among the carefully culled attendants. To some it’s a sanctuary, a home away from the cold and empty mansions of their childhood. To others, it’s a living hell full of demons with school uniforms and painted faces.

Me? I think of it as a relic, an ancient constant standing in a sea of ever-changing boutiques that vanish almost as quickly as the trends they personify. I wander the creaky wooden floors and watch through the drafty windows that elicit the majority of student complaints. The school is a piece of history fossilized in brick, something steadfast that lets time wash over it without moving an inch. Maybe it’s a bit odd, likening myself to a building, much less my prep school. Then again, I never did say I was normal.
